UNESCO Club of Education Charter Honours Saraswati World School for Excellence in Holistic Education and Student Leadership

In a significant recognition of its commitment to holistic education and student leadership, Saraswati World School, Hooghly, was conferred the Certificate of Institutional Excellence by the UNESCO Club of Education Charter during the school’s Student Investiture Ceremony for the Academic Session 2026–2027.

The recognition celebrated the institution’s sustained efforts in nurturing responsible citizens through academic excellence, ethical leadership, innovation, democratic participation, and value-based education. The certificate was formally presented by Hon’ble MLA of Chinsurah, Shri Subir Nag, to Mrs Shyamasree Biswas, Principal of Saraswati World School, in the presence of the school’s Chairman and members of the management, faculty, parents, and students.

Recognising Institutions that Build Character

The UNESCO Club of Education Charter instituted the recognition to acknowledge educational institutions that strive to develop not only academic competence but also character, leadership, responsibility, and global citizenship among young learners.

The Certificate of Institutional Excellence recognised Saraswati World School for its continued commitment to:

  • Promoting holistic and value-based education
  • Encouraging democratic participation through student leadership
  • Fostering ethical leadership and social responsibility
  • Creating an inclusive and learner-centred educational environment
  • Preparing students to become responsible and compassionate global citizens

The presentation of the certificate formed one of the most memorable moments of the Investiture Ceremony, symbolising the shared vision of schools and educational institutions in preparing young people for the responsibilities of the future.

Celebrating Leadership Beyond Academics

The recognition coincided with the formal induction of the newly elected Student Council for the academic session 2026–2027.

As student leaders received their badges and took the oath of office, the ceremony reinforced the belief that education extends beyond examination performance. Leadership, discipline, teamwork, integrity, and service are equally essential qualities that schools must consciously cultivate.

The Investiture Ceremony reflected these ideals by encouraging students to accept responsibility with humility and commitment while serving as role models for their peers.

A Shared Vision for Quality Education

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasised the importance of nurturing leadership from an early age and appreciated Saraswati World School’s efforts to create meaningful opportunities for students to develop confidence, accountability, and civic responsibility.

The event also featured cultural performances, inspirational addresses, and the solemn oath-taking ceremony, creating an atmosphere of pride and purpose for the entire school community.

Educational Leadership Recognised

In addition to honouring the institution, the UNESCO Club of Education Charter also recognised Mrs Shyamasree Biswas, Principal of Saraswati World School, for her educational leadership and her contribution to strengthening a culture of academic excellence, discipline, innovation, and holistic student development.

The dual recognitions reflected the understanding that institutional excellence is built upon visionary leadership, dedicated educators, and a supportive learning environment.

Inspiring Schools Across India

Speaking on the occasion, representatives of the UNESCO Club of Education Charter reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to recognising educational institutions that contribute meaningfully to society by fostering leadership, ethical values, and lifelong learning among students.

The Club believes that schools play a pivotal role in shaping future generations and that recognising excellence in educational leadership encourages institutions to continue innovating for the benefit of learners and society.

As Saraswati World School embarks on another academic year with its newly elected Student Council, the recognition serves as both an appreciation of past achievements and an encouragement to continue empowering students to become confident, compassionate, and responsible leaders.
